Propane Payments Made Easy

Situated in Saskatchewan’s “Gateway to the North,” Debbie Hill knows how important a reliable source of propane is for rural dwellers.

As the accounts receivable clerk for Lake Country Co-op in Prince Albert, Hill has been administering Co-op’s Propane Equalized Payment Plan (PEPP) for the better part of a decade. Operating in much the same fashion as other energy providers, PEPP allows home heat customers greater financial ease with equalized monthly billing, as opposed to the demands of yearly lump sum payments.

“Overall it just makes managing monthly payments better,” Hill said.

“It’s a simple program. You just sign up and go by your past year’s usage and we figure out what your monthly payment will be.”

While Hill noted that many of Lake Country Co-op's members live in remote areas, propane is a utility that fuels their communities. For some, coming up with a single payment may be a challenge, which is one of the key benefits to PEPP.

“Knowing my consistent, monthly payments have proven to be very effective when it comes to budgeting,” explained Michelle Hewison, Lake Country Co-op member. “It allows for peace of mind and meets the needs of my family.”

Customers who opt for PEPP are put on an annual billing cycle that runs from August to June, with monthly payments based on consumption history and average propane prices. Accounts are adjusted in July to reflect any differences in propane prices or equipment fees.

Another benefit to PEPP is its affordability. By avoiding peak season winter pricing, PEPP customers are filled in the summer months when prices are lower. Tank monitors also allow for efficient and timely fills so customers never have to worry about running out.
